Eligibility
The Faculty of Graduate Studies will offer six awards to doctoral students, one in each of the following areas: applied sciences, health sciences, humanities, interdisciplinary sciences, natural sciences, and social sciences. A citation certificate and a cash prize will be awarded recognizing the successful nominee at an award reception, hosted by the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
Eligible dissertations must have been completed (final copies of thesis submitted) between January 1 and December 31 of the previous calendar year. In case there are no qualified candidates in a given Faculty/School, the Faculty/School selection committee may choose not to submit a nominee. The Faculty of Graduate Studies will verify the eligibility of nominees submitted.

Application Details
Each Faculty/School may submit one doctoral nomination to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Nominations must be received no later than the stated deadline. Contact your Faculty/School for their nomination deadline
Each nomination must include:
* a letter of support from the Dean of the Faculty/Director of School that also indicates the process used by the selection committee to select the nominee
* a letter from the Graduate Chair of the student's department describing the reasons for the nomination, and why the dissertation is viewed as a groundbreaking piece of original work
* the name and departmental affiliation of the nominees' research supervisor
* the area the dissertation is being nominated under: applied sciences, health sciences, humanities, interdisciplinary sciences, natural sciences, and social sciences
* a copy of each examiner's pre-defence report
* a copy of the abstract of the dissertation, not to exceed 350 words in length written in non-technical language
* a current curriculum vitae for the nominee

Hi everyone, the deadline for the prairie symposium at the University of Saskatchewan is quickly approaching, January 31st is the deadline to register for the march 21-22 symposium.

International Graduate Student Scholarship (IGSS)
This scholarship provides support for the international graduate student tuition fee differential.
The scholarships are offered to students who:
* are international students (i.e., those in Canada on study permits) continuing in full-time study in the Faculty of Graduate Studies at the University of Manitoba in either the second year of a two-year Master's program, the second year of a two-year
Ph.D. program, the second or third year of a three-year Ph.D. program, or in the first year of a Ph.D. program after completing a Master's degree at the University of Manitoba;
* are paying the international student tuition fee
If you are considering doing a Ph.D. degree at the University of Manitoba after completing your M.Sc. degree, or if you are considering transferring to a Ph.D. program without finishing the M.Sc. program, you should also apply for this.
