Deadlines: there are two deadlines to note for the NSERC PGS\CGS competition; a transcript submission deadline and an on-line application submission deadline. Applicants must submit official transcripts from all institutions attended in sealed envelopes to Rowena Krentz (Rowena.Krentz(a)umanitoba.ca<mailto:Rowena.Krentz@umanitoba.ca>), Faculty of Graduate Studies, 500 University Centre by October 6, 2017. This will provide her with time to upload transcripts so that students can submit their application electronically by their October 20, 2017. Bursaries (student funding that does not need to be repaid)
Every year, the University of Manitoba offers a wide-range of bursaries to both new and continuing full time and part-time students who have a demonstrated financial need and a minimum academic standing. Bursaries (student funding that does not need to be repaid) range in amounts from $100 to $1,000 with over $3 million awards annually.

I am pleased to inform you that representatives from NSERC will be visiting the University of Manitoba once again to speak about NSERC awards for Master's and Ph.D. students (CGSM, PGSD and CGSD). Kindly advertise the attached information to students and staff. Note that Dr. Andrew Frederiksen, a U of M professor in the Department of Geological Sciences has been invited by NSERC to speak as he is a Scholarships and Fellowships Selection Committee member. Dr. Frederiksen will speak to students about what committees look for in the review process.
