Four candidates will be interviewing in August for the Cereal Breeder & Genetics Asst/Assoc Professor position in our Department.
The graduate students (or as many that can attend) meet as a group with each candidate separately, and then provide their feedback to the Chair of the Search Committee (Dr. Fouad Daayf).

1. Information for all Master's and Ph.D. students who are continuing in their programs*:
All graduate students are required to register every academic term which includes Fall, Winter and Summer. If students do not register, they will be discontinued from their program of study. As registration in Fall 2020 and Winter 2021 terms is approaching, students must ensure they are registered for the re-registration course:

This re-registration should be over and above any course registration(s) students complete. So long as students are in a re-registration course for each term, they will retain status in their graduate program even if they withdraw from other courses.
*MBA and MPA: if students in these programs need to register for re-registration only, please contact your departmental/unit graduate program assistant.
Exceptions to Fall 2020 and/or Winter 2021 term re-registration:
* Students on a Parental or Exceptional Leave do not have to register in the term(s) for which this type of leave is approved. (Students on a Regular Leave are still required to register for the re-registration course number in both Fall and Winter terms.)
* Students who anticipate graduating in October 2020 are not required to register for the Fall 2020 or Winter 2021 terms.
* Students who are certain they will be graduating in February 2021 should register for their final exercise/project for the Fall 2020 term, i.e., Thesis/Practicum/Comprehensive Exam/Project or the final course or re-registration GRAD 7020/GRAD 8020 for Fall term only.

1. **NEW** Compulsory GRAD 7300 Research Integrity Tutorial
Commencing in Fall 2020, all Pre-Master's, Masters and Ph.D. students will be required to register in GRAD 7300 Research Integrity Tutorial and complete the associated modules in UM Learn. This zero (0) credit-hour, pass/fail research integrity tutorial is a highly interactive online tool designed to provide a comprehensive overview and basic understanding of the best practices and principles in the Responsible Conduct of Research. Students will be exposed to practical advice on how to deal with challenging situations that may arise while doing research within their own area of expertise. The course also addresses the latest standards, codes, and policies in the Responsible Conduct of Research both locally and globally. 3. Compulsory GRAD 7500 Academic Integrity Tutorial
Academic Integrity is a matter of paramount importance in academia. It is the foundation of scholarly work. Breaches of Academic Integrity, whether intentional or unintentional, have potentially very serious consequences to a student's status in the Faculty of Graduate Studies and at the University of Manitoba. To help graduate students better understand the issues surrounding Academic Integrity, all Pre-Master's, Master's and Ph.D. students must take a compulsory tutorial on Academic Integrity.
All graduate students must register for and complete GRAD 7500 Academic Integrity Tutorial one time per program of study. This is a zero (0) credit-hour, pass/fail course intended to introduce students to their basic responsibilities regarding academic integrity and to the resources available to them.

Failure to successfully complete GRAD 7300 and GRAD 7500 will result in suspension of registration privileges, and ultimately, a failed grade and Required to Withdraw action. Please refer to the regulations concerning these courses in the FGS Academic Guide<http://crscalprod.ad.umanitoba.ca/Catalog/ViewCatalog.aspx?pageid=viewcatal…>, Sections 2.5 & 2.6.
Students must remember to plan their program of study carefully. It is imperative that they ensure they are registering for only those courses that are a major part of their Master's or Ph.D. program. If any courses are not part of a student's major program, they should be added through the student's department/unit office as an Auxiliary course "X", Audit course "A" or an Occasional course "O". Questions about these classifications can be directed to your department/unit. Students are cautioned not to register for more courses than their program allows because they may be assessed extra fees at the time of graduation.

"Students are responsible for ensuring that they meet all degree and program requirements. The advisor (and if appropriate co-advisor), advisory committee, and department/unit must ensure that each student follows Faculty of Graduate Studies and department/unit guidelines and meets all program requirements. The Faculty of Graduate Studies performs a final check of Faculty of Graduate Studies minimum requirements for each student just prior to graduation. Students are cautioned, therefore, to periodically check all regulations with respect to their degree requirements. Failure to meet all the requirements will render a student ineligible to graduate."
