Subject: Gloves for autoclave
Please return all heat protective (orange) gloves used for the autoclaves in room 210.
These should not be removed from that room or returned immediately after use - if needed to transport hot items.
Thanks,

Subject: Changes in the PS office
All,
I would like to send some quick updates.
1) Christy's position will be replaced with a FULL TIME OA3 position. This hiring, suggested by Allison a while back, will increase efficiency in the office and provide additional support to academics. The job ad will be posted shortly.
2) Amanda will replace Allison while on leave until June 4, with the support of Harminder. As I indicated previously, please be patient and try to facilitate the work in the office
3) Yesterday was Justice's first day of work at Carman. Justice is very eager to work with all members of the department. When visiting Carman stop by to welcome Justice.
Martin, Yvonne, Rob D, Doug and myself will have regular weekly meetings with Justice to assist with his transition.
4) The gate to the Point has been damaged, therefore please be careful when opening or closing the gate to ensure that the gate does not fall. A contractor has been hired to repair the gate, but the timing of the repairs is unknown at this time.
Claudio

A special Advanced Plant Science Seminar presented by Martin H. Entz, PhD
Professor of Cropping Systems and Natural Systems Agriculture
University of Manitoba
*Please note that although space for the live seminar is limited, the presentation recording will be available to all registered attendees.
The seminar will be based on a recent essay written by Martin. The essay explores the fundamental role organic agriculture can, and will play in sustaining people and the planet which begins by identifying two major environmental threats, and how industry is being pushed to respond. It then spends time on the question of food security - a hurdle in the minds of many when discussing organic agriculture. The paper asks how we might reconcile Canada's aspirations of increasing agricultural exports with a farming system that is more focused on environmental targets. Informing this question requires a critical look at global population and diet trends. Where will food be required in the future? And given that the planet has more people suffering from over- rather than under-feeding, is the present food system the right fit? Finally, it circles back to the original question of how organic agriculture can contribute to solution for climate change and biodiversity loss while producing healthy food and livelihoods.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.
