Welcome to the new fall semester!
On Tuesday September 12 from noon - 1:30 PM, the Plant Science Graduate
Student Association will be holding our 1st annual graduate student meet and greet
in the Plant Science Courtyard. This inaugural event will take place as a
means to meet all new and returning graduate students from within our department.
We will also take this opportunity to discuss news and events for the upcoming
academic school year. Oh, and did we mention that this event is completely
sponsored by the PSGSA? Yup, it's FREE! Please RSVP for the event in the
Grad Lounge by indicating if you would like veggie or meat burgers.

*James Gordon Fletcher Graduate Fellowship in
Agricultural and Food Sciences*
Through a testamentary gift from James Gordon Fletcher, a graduate of
Agricultural and Food Sciences of The University of Manitoba
(B.S.A./25), a fund has been established at the University to support a
graduate fellowship in Agricultural and Food Sciences. This fellowship
was first offered in the 2000-2001 academic session.
The available annual income on the fund (~$12,000.00) will support a
fellowship to a student who:
1) is entering the Masters of Science program in the Faculty of
Agricultural and Food Sciences
and enrols full-time in the program;
2) has an outstanding record of undergraduate academic achievement
(minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 over the last 60
credit hours);
3) demonstrates an interest in and potential for research.
This fellowship cannot be held with another award valued at or higher
than the current value of the University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowship
at the Masters level.
Applicants are required to submit a transcript, project outline and two
letters of support to:

Canadian Dairy Commission Scholarship
This scholarship is for graduate students whose thesis project has
application to the dairy industry.
Value:
M.Sc. students - $20,000 per year;
Ph.D. students - $30,000 per year.
Deadline: September 15, 2006
