Attention international students: There is a province-wide meeting at the University of Winnipeg to discuss/network about the particular issues unique to international students studying in Manitoba (for example, the extra-high tuition you must pay compared to Canadian students). SO, if you are interested, read the email below, and have a look at the attached information. The registration form should be brought to the GSA office, 221 University Centre, by January 14 (next Monday). I am writing to let you know that on Saturday, January 19th there will be a meeting of international students at the University of Winnipeg. International students are invited to attend as members of their students' unions to discuss and network around campaigns to end discrimination and barriers that are faced while attending university in Manitoba. Please see attached registration form and notice/schedule. If you or any of the students in your department are interested in attending please fill out the registration form and return it to the GSA Office (221 - University Centre) by next Monday, January 14. As well, there are hard copies of the registration form available from in the GSA office. Bright future to you all! We are blessed to be in a safe place in which we can excel and overcome! I would like to thank all of you for our many successes as a graduate group. We helped raise $500 for the Spence Street Children Garden, great team work for a great cause!! I really appreciated the diversity in PSGSA. Thanks for BBQin. We saw many great colleagues successfully defend their work! Congrats! Thanks to Muthu, Hassna, Ruli, Meahan, RB, Blaine, Marc, Anne, Sarangi, Zhixa, Eppie, Mukhles, Lilu, Simon, Zhen Yao, Arvind, Antonia, Lynn and Tom for signing up for the lounge clean-up crew!! And thanks to those whom helped maintain the lounge that did not make it on the list!! I have posted a new clean-up sheet. Please sign up. As for activities!! I would like to have a potluck in the first week of Feb. in the lounge. Will send info soon!! At that time we will talk about the Graduate Sympo. at the U of S. If there is interest we can plan for ice skating at the Forks. Of course if anyone has a suggestion of an activites please let us know and we will try to make it so. The deadline for abstracts for the Graduate Sympo. is Feb 8, 2008. I have attached the info. If you are interested in attending it is not to late to register! Please remember there is no fee to attend and all travel, food and hotel is provided via PSGSA, departmental and program funds. 2008 is our turn to host the Sympo!! We have already applied for funding but more will needed to be acquired. We will be having elections for PSGSA in April. If you are interested please let your fellow graudate know.
