Hi everyone, For those interested, the workshop "An intro to Westgrid/Compute Canada for Genomics Users" has been booked for next Friday, September 20th in EITC E2 258 in the engineering building. The topics of this workshop include: * HPC Resources available * Basics of working with HPC machines (transferring data, finding /installing the software, submitting jobs) * Hands-on exercise on the above topics * Questions/Answers specific to genomics pipelines There are currently 8 spaces left, so, if you are interested in attending this workshop, please respond to this e-mail indicating so by Monday, September 16th and more info regarding registration will be sent out next week to those attending. NSERC Canada Graduate Scholarships - Master’s Program The objective of the Canada Graduate Scholarships-Master’s (CGS M) program is to help develop research skills and assist in the training of highly qualified personnel by supporting students who demonstrate a high standard of achievement in undergraduate and early graduate studies. The CGS M program provides financial support to high-calibre scholars who are engaged in eligible master’s or, in some cases, doctoral programs in Canada. This support allows these scholars to fully concentrate on their studies in their chosen fields. The CGS M program supports up to 3,000 students annually in all disciplines and is administered jointly by Canada’s three federal agencies: CIHR, NSERC and SSHRC. The selection process and post-award administration are carried out at the institutional level, under the guidance of the three agencies. Students submit their application to the institution at which they intend to hold their award using the Research Portal. Psychological Service Centre

Hi Everyone, I was glad to see so many new and familiar faces today at the PSGSA Elections. I was going to mention this at the meeting, however I believe this message is more efficiently communicated by email. A service at the U of M that I became aware of earlier this year is the Psychological Service Centre. The Psychological Service Centre is a training clinic for Clinical Psychology Graduate Students enrolled at the University of Manitoba. All services are provided at no charge. This is something that I started going to a few months ago to address symptoms of anxiety disorder. It is easily one of the best things I have ever done. I believe that taking care of yourself, and your mental health should be everyone’s number one priority.
