Hello plant science wiz-kids (grad students, that is),
Courtesy of the Graduate Students' Association, we all get free (that's
right, FREE) daytimers. Not only are they daytimers, but they've got
lots of helpful information you need as a graduate student at this
university. Courtesy of my skinny arms, you don't have to look for
these free (that's right, FREE) daytimers. I carried a box of them over
to our grad lounge. Now you (yes, YOU) can go down there and pick one
up for yourself.
While you are picking up your daytimer, you can also grab a pamphlet for
the GSA-sponsored "Welcome Week" activities coming up next week (sports,
live music, party, and MORE).
toodle-oo,
Simon.

Re: New course: BIOE 7280 Intellectual

Commercialization
A knowledge of the issues around intellectual
property and technology
commercialization is becoming increasing
important for graduate students. To address
this need in the short term, Extended
Education, The Faculty of Graduate Studies, and
the Office of Research Services have
coordinated a graduate course to be offered this
fall. The course is entitled "Intellectual
Property and Technology Commercialization" and
is open to all graduate students (permission
of your advisor/committee is, of course,
required). Enrollmentis limited to 25
students and will be on first-come-first-served
basis.

Dr. Don Flaten has asked if any of our students are intending on taking
SOIL 7140 Soil Nitrogen in the winter term. If so, could you please let
him know (don_flaten(a)umanitoba.ca)?

Hope you all are doing fine. The grad. lounge fridge is going to be

*Hi everyone,
Thanks very much for joining the BBQ this afternoon. I am sure you all
had a great time! Just a note that the grad student lounge is not
usually locked. Because we all have the key, I am suggesting to keep
the lounge locked after office hours, as we have some valuables in
there. So, whoever is leaving the lounge later in the day, please lock
the door. Even when you go home if you see the door is open, please
lock it. This is very important especially during weekends. Please let
me know if you have any suggestions/concerns in this regard.
Thanks - Muthu*
