Wednesday, October 22

Join us as Dr. Owen Roberts describes the highly successful SPARK (Students Promoting Awareness of Research Knowledge) program. This is a unique training opportunity for students to gain experience in written communications -- from hard news to public relations. Through SPARK, students acquire marketable skills and knowledge that they can take into the professional world.
[Owen Roberts]
About the speaker
Dr. Owen Roberts teaches agricultural communications for the Ontario Agricultural College, at the University of Guelph. After working as a journalist in western Canada, he became the university's director of research communications where he began the SPARK program. In addition to working as an educator and administrator for the university, he is also an active journalist, contributing a column for RealAgriculture.com (among others) called Real Talk, Real Action.
This seminar is hosted by the University of Manitoba 4H Leaders Club through the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences Endowment Fund Award.
All are welcome!
Hi all,
Dr. Stasolla would like to meet with you to discuss the graduate student curriculum review which is currently taking place. It includes a review of the graduate courses offered in Plant Science, as well as number courses required, course scheduling, etc.
We really hope you can attend and provide your input.

The University has experienced a higher than normal incidence of mice entering buildings.
Please do not tempt mice by keeping plant material, seeds, food etc. stored in your office area.
If you have any of these items in your office, move them to your lab or alternate storage site where they must be stored in mouse proof containers. Food kept in your office space must be in mouse proof containers.
Where there is one mouse, there is a hundred. It cost the department thousands of dollars a few years ago to get rid of a mouse problem and the mess they left.
The department does not want to have to go through that exercise again.
Thanks for your prompt attention to this matter.
