All,
As a large number of Plant Science students and staff live close to University, be aware that as of today adult residents in Fort Richmond are eligible to receive COVID immunization (https://manitoba.ca/covid19/vaccine/eligibility-criteria.html)

Subject: Biosecurity and Parking Spots at Carman
Morning ,
This is a reminder to everyone who will have trials or will be visiting Carman Research Facility. In an effort to reduce the spread of crop diseases, we placed 2 hand sprayers with Spray Nine by the NE side of the main building to be used for spraying all vehicle tires before proceeding to the yard or plots. The same needs to be done when leaving the site. This is a temporary measure while Terry is working on the more effective bay wash.
As has been the routine in previous years, I also expect everyone to clean out dirt from their equipment and boots before coming back to the yard.
Parking lots:
All Department vehicles are to be parked on the Northen side of the main building and at least and personal or visitors' vehicles on the Southern end of the main building. During lunch time, a few vehicles can be parked SE of Building #4 (see attached map).
For any questions please don't hesitate to contact Justice.
Thank you.
Justice Zhanda, MSc., P. Ag.

An individual who later tested positive for COVID-19 was on the Fort Garry Campus on April 20 & 21st during the communicable period. The individual attended the Plant Science Building, Rooms 009, 018, 207, and 210 (autoclave room), and also the growth room #2 in the growth space area of the Agriculture building.
Public Health is leading the case investigation and contact management, and will identify and directly notify any close contacts. If you were not contacted by Public Health and were in the above areas on the above date, you can continue to self-monitor for symptoms. Should you develop symptoms use the Shared Health screening tool to determine if you should be tested.
The space where the individuals were present on campus are being appropriately cleaned and disinfected. Masks are mandatory at all times at the University of Manitoba.
It is more important than ever that individuals who attend work or learning events in person strictly follow public health guidance including limiting close contacts outside of the home, practicing physical distancing, and staying home when sick, no matter how mild the symptoms. If you have symptoms that could be COVID-19, use the Shared Health screening tool to self-screen and get tested if that is what is recommended. Without the test there is no way to tell if the symptoms are from COVID-19 or another cause.
Dear fellow graduate students,
Hope all are doing well and enjoying the warmer weather!
Please review the attached proposal and complete the survey to provide your valuable opinion and vote regarding our internship proposal. In brief, PSGSA is excited to propose a student internship program to the department for consideration and further discussion. If the objectives of the proposal are accepted, graduate students would have the opportunity for Canadian work experience and networking for future endeavors. This program, in whatever form it may take, will also help students to experience Canadian corporate work culture and hone their communication skills. So, please go through the attached documents and let us know your opinion BY FRIDAY if you think this is an idea worth exploring.
PSGSA would love your opinion/suggestion and incorporate any valuable edits or additions. Please share them on the survey or email litommua(a)myumanitoba.ca directly. DON'T FORGET TO CAST YOUR VOTE IN THIS REGARD BY FRIDAY, VOTING LINK IS BELOW. The voting/survey link will provide separately.
Thanks
PSGSA Team
