· Please be sure that you review the types of awards that we offer. There is a vast difference between scholarships, fellowships & bursaries. The definitions for each award can be found herehttps://umanitoba.ca/agricultural-food-sciences/student-experience/awards-and-financial-aid#faculty-graduate-student-awards
· There is a wide range of awards available to Graduate Students in all Programs. The Faculty of Agricultural & Food Sciences Awards webpage (linked above) outlines all the awards available. These include: Agriculture Entrance Scholarships, Indigenous Student Awards in Agriculture, Program specific Awards, Agriculture Convocation Awards, Travel and Research Awards and External Awards in the Agriculture Industry. Please also ensure that you visit the University of Manitoba Financial Aid & Awards webpage (linked above). There is vast array of award information and opportunities from outside of the Faculty of Agriculture & Food Sciences.
· Merit based awards are awarded once the Fall Term begins. Please be aware that students are required to have their tuition funding in place to ensure that they can pay their tuition on time and prior to the tuition deadline; awards are never promised and students need to be prepared to pay their tuition in full with their own funds. If you are the recipient of an award, you will be notified via your myumanitoba email and the funds from the award are applied to the Student Fee Account on Aurora after the tuition deadline.
· Bursary applications will open on August 1 and close October 3. Students must apply through their Aurora Student Account. Every year, the University of Manitoba offers a wide-range of bursaries to both new and continuing full-time and part-time students who have a demonstrated financial need and a minimum academic standing. The average value of bursaries range in amounts from $400 to $1,000, with over $6 million awarded annually. Unlike scholarships and fellowships, bursaries are based on financial need and require an application. More information on bursaries, including important deadlines and how to apply, can be found herehttps://umanitoba.ca/financial-aid-and-awards/bursaries.
