Subject: Webinar: Simulating Bioheating and RF Tissue Ablation with COMSOL Multiphysics® (1/5)
Dear Colleague,
On Thursday, January 5, COMSOL will give a free webinar on "Simulating Bioheating and RF Tissue Ablation with COMSOL Multiphysics®." Details and registration are available below.
Localized tissue heating is an important process in a variety of medical therapies, with applications such as tissue removal, shrinking collagen and surface capillaries, and minimizing birthmarks. To ensure the design of safe procedures, you must know the extent and duration of the elevated temperature in the tissue as well as the energy absorption.
In this webinar, you will get a live demonstration on how to simulate bioheating, evaluate tissue damage, and model ablation methods in COMSOL Multiphysics®, including low- and high-frequency electromagnetic radiation, focused high-intensity sound, and lasers. We will also discuss how simulation results can provide designers with an edge to reduce time-to-market, create safer and more robust medical devices, and provide critical analysis during governmental approval. You can ask questions throughout the presentation or at the end during the Q&A session.
Live Presentation - Thursday, January 5, 2017 2:00 p.m. EST.

Dear Colleague,
On Tuesday, December 20, COMSOL will give a free webinar on "Simulating Metamaterials in the Terahertz Regime." Details and registration are available below.
If you want to learn how to simulate metamaterials in the terahertz regime, then tune into this webinar. Metamaterials are engineered to have specific material properties. They often consist of subwavelength arrays and enable a number of exotic behaviors, such as a negative refractive index, superlensing, and cloaking.
In this webinar, you will get a live demonstration of how to simulate a metamaterial using COMSOL Multiphysics(r). While we will focus on simulating metamaterials in the terahertz regime, the demonstration will be generally applicable to any frequency spectrum. You can ask questions throughout the presentation or at the end during the Q&A session.
Live Presentation - Tuesday, December 20, 2016 11:00 a.m. EST.

Dear Colleague,
On Thursday, December 15, IEEE and COMSOL will give a free webinar on "Simulating Acoustics in Transducers, Mobile Devices, and Hearing Aids." Details and registration are available below.
If you want to learn how to simulate acoustics in COMSOL Multiphysics(r), then tune into this webinar. Simulating acoustic devices such as transducers usually involves coupling mechanical, electrical, and acoustic effects. You must also consider the necessary degree of detail, lumping certain parts, as well as viscous and thermal losses. In this presentation, you will get a live demonstration on how to model small devices, such as miniature loudspeakers, microphones, hearing aids, and mobile devices, using COMSOL Multiphysics(r). Our guest speaker, Brenno Varanda from Knowles Corporation, will also present strategies for the efficient simulation and integration of miniature transducers. You can ask questions throughout the presentation or at the end during the Q&A session.
Speakers:
Brenno Varanda, Senior Electroacoustic Engineer, Knowles Corporation
Mads Herring Jensen, Technical Product Manager - Acoustics, COMSOL A/S
