Today, June 15, IEEE and COMSOL will give a free webinar on "Simulation-Driven Motor Design for Vehicle Electrification." Details and registration are available below.
In this webinar, we will focus on the FEA component of evaluating a three-phase electric motor. You will get a live demonstration of setting up a parameterized model in COMSOL Multiphysics(r) of a nonlinear-surface permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM), including the current commands from which a flux-linkage map can be built and the peak torque capability can be determined. You can ask questions at the end of the webinar during the Q&A session.

I would like to invite you to a free web workshop that I am organizing on modeling acoustic-structure interaction with COMSOL Multiphysics® simulation software. The live online presentation will be held Thursday, June 22, 2017, from 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. EDT.
During this web workshop, we will discuss:
- Modeling acoustic pressure waves in fluids and how they interact with surrounding structures, resulting in vibrations in deformable solids and absorption in porous materials
- Different types of acoustic-structure interaction, including acoustic-piezoelectric interaction, poroelastic waves, acoustic-shell interaction, and thermoviscous acoustics with applications in muffler design, transducer design, loudspeakers, and more
- Setting up an acoustic-structure interaction problem in COMSOL Multiphysics®

Electrostatics simulations are instrumental in a wide range of applications, from designing the tiniest MEMS actuator to fencing off an electrical installation the size of a soccer field. In this webinar, you will learn how to use COMSOL Multiphysics® for modeling capacitive devices. You can study the electric fields alone or model their interaction with other physics like structural mechanics or heat transfer. Discussed examples include capacitors, microphones, electrostatic actuators, and touchscreens. You will also see a live demonstration of how to extract a capacitance matrix from a set of conductors. I would like to invite you to a free web workshop that I am organizing on modeling chemical reactions and reacting flows with COMSOL Multiphysics(r) simulation software held this Wednesday, June 7, 2017, from 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. EDT.
This web workshop will cover:
- Chemical kinetics and reaction engineering capabilities, including batch/CSTR/plug flow reactors, CHEMKIN(r) file import, and import of thermodynamic data
- Chemical species transport through diffusion, convection, and migration in electric fields
- Single-phase flow capabilities, including Newtonian and non-Newtonian flow
- Reacting flow that involves fluid flow, heat transfer, and mass transfer with reactions
- Mixing and reactions in rotating machinery, including the frozen rotor study

The physics of the built environment has become more important during the last few decades and is relevant to many applications, including energy efficiency, building safety, and historical site maintenance. During this webinar, you will learn how to use COMSOL Multiphysics® to study heat and mass transfer in the built environment. We will start the live demonstration by creating a 3D thermal model and app (a customized user interface designed around the simulation) and end by building a state-of-the-art heat, vapor, and liquid model.
