*City of Winnipeg Annual Bike Auction*
*Winnipeg, MB* – Residents are reminded that the City’s annual auction of
unclaimed bicycles will be held on Saturday, April 28 and Sunday, April 29,
2012, at the Varsity View Sportsplex, 4230 Ridgewood Avenue.
Approximately 450 bicycles will be auctioned off on Saturday, and
approximately 300 on Sunday. Parking is available for $2.00 per vehicle,
with all parking proceeds going to the Varsity View Community Club.
This year, the City of Winnipeg has partnered with the Winnipeg Repair
Education and Cycling Hub (WRENCH) to offer up to 200 bikes that have been
tuned up by volunteer mechanics, and are ready-to-ride!
Also on site will be information and displays about the City’s cycling
network, commuter courses, proper helmet fit, and Winnipeg’s community bike
shops.
Public viewing will be held as follows:
· Saturday, April 28 from 7:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. – Auction starts
at 9:00 a.m.
· Sunday, April 29 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. – Auction starts
at 12:00 noon
Please note that all bicycles are sold as is, where is, and no warranty is
given nor implied. Cash, MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Interac
payments will be accepted. Cheques will not be accepted.
One-time Bicycle Registrations will be available on site at a cost of $5.60
plus GST, per bicycle. Registering your bike will ensure that, should the
City recover it—you will get it back with no additional charges.
