I have created the qes, rec, and chk files using 3.1. When I use add/revise
on the checks menu, make changes, and then save the file, many of the
previously defined labels and commands are deleted. My manual states that a
check file can be created by using add/revise or the editor. Can edits to
the chk file only be made using the editor?
Thanks much,

Dear colleagues
I am a new EpiData user, I am trying to create a data file for my QES file, but as I click "make data file" this message comes:
The .QES file contains errors. The following errors were found: <...> field without closing-bracket in line 73:
I wonder whether I can get help to solve this from any of you.

Hi,
I am using EpiData on Windows environment and might change into Mac,
can EpiData work there or do I need to install different version?
Thank you in advance and best regards

A question was:
"I am currently working on a Vaccine trial and I intend using epidata for
the study. My problem now is that I have been struggling with how to
create a field to load photo ID. I need a help on this."
I suggest in addition to other help also to look at the "execute"
command, which is a check file command that allows running external
software during entry. From the help file of EpiData entry this example
is found under "execute":
PICTNUM
DEFINE tmpName _________________
AFTER ENTRY
LET tmpName="d:\pics\picture"+pictnum+".jpg"
EXECUTE @tmpName WAIT
END
END
The field PICTNUM is a integer field. If user enters the number 3 then a
.jpg picture file called "d:\pics\picture3.jpg" will be opened by the
default program for .jpg files. EpiData halts until pictureviewer (or
–editor) is closed.@tmpName means that @tmpName should be replaced by
the contents of the variable tmpName.

Dear Han and all,
Thank you for your help and encourage!
I follow what you told me, even I did it before, and it still not work.
So I used the .QES save under a new name like test.qes and make a brand
new data file name: test.rec.
Then I entered some record, and I was able to use the FIND command for
date format <mm/dd/yyyy>. I feel great and hopeful.
After that, I entered data with the previous .chk file ... name
test.chk
And I found that I was unable to use it FIND command for date field with
format <mm/dd/yyyy>, it always give me the Information box with message
"Search string(s) not found"; And still the FIND command only works for
format date as <dd/mm/yyyy>.
May be something wrong with my check file?
Thank you very much for your help and support!

Dear Kim:
It works, but you must take care to enter it properly. Assume it is May
30, 2000, thus you must search:
05/30/2000
and it works (I just tested it).

Hans

Dear all:
How much does EpiData allow formatting of text in questionnaires? For
instance putting titles in the Questionnaire form in bold, italic or
underlined mode? Or putting a block of the questionnaire in a different
background colour?
Thank you for your help and guidance
