It seems the longest acceptable line is 204 characters. You can create and save longer lines using File,Open and choosing the checkfile, but EpiData 3.1 would not interpret the rest of these long lines for me. You can always break a formula down into smaller lines. With the installation comes a 4 page introduction file, choose Spanish language at http://www.epidata.dk/download.php Also Monica chiu made an extended explanation available from: http://epi.minsal.cl/epi/html/software/epi6.htm Although made with EpiData v2.1 you can use the same. If anyone wishes to do some translations all other documents found on either download or documentation page of EpiData.dk are available for translation. Regards (saludos) Jens Lauritsen

Hello! I am trying to create a formula to calculate the sum of different fields. In "Edit" option under "Check" window, when I write it, I close it and save it, but later on I see that the line has been cut at the end, does it have limited number of characters or ...? and how to solve it? You should make a system using relate On the example page http://www.epidata.dk/examples.php you will find several examples. Some very complicated like the one YVES has made, but others are simple - but comprehensive, e.g. that included with the installation of EpiData you have the house,person,rec system. regards Jens Lauritsen
