Synopsis: Based on Irit Linur's bestselling novel, this film focuses on the
life of 32-year-old Talila Katz. Talila, preoccupied with her turbulent love
life, couldn't care less about the wailing sirens that pierce the Tel Aviv
skies nightly during the Gulf War - that is, until her love life takes a
turn for the worse and reality comes rushing in.

2. Song of Siren: JSA/WZI Israeli Film Festival
The Song of Siren will be shown on Monday, February 28th at 7:30PM at the
University of Winnipeg, Manitoba Hall - Room 4L47.
The Jewish Students' Association/Hillel invites everyone to attend.
Admission is free to students displaying their student card and $5 for
adults. Complimentary snacks are also provided.

Enjoy your old favourites as well as new choreography during these weekly
drop-in Israeli dance sessions at the Rady JCC. You will experience a wide
range of Israeli dances styles including traditional, Yemenite, South
American and much more.

4. Internship Position
fourth annual
Canada-Israel Committee Parliamentary Internship Program
Description: The Canada-Israel Committee Parliamentary Internship Program is
an initiative of the Canada-Israel Committee established as an annual
competition for university graduates who have an interest in governmental
affairs. This internship program provides back-bench Members of Parliament
with highly qualified assistants, and gives university graduates an
opportunity to supplement their theoretical knowledge of Parliament and the
political process with practical experience of the day-to-day work of the
Members. Also, in the longer term, graduates of the program are better able
to make a significant contribution to Canadian public life. Intern
responsibilities will include working with Members of the House of Commons.
The internship program will begin in the fall of 2005 and conclude in the
spring of 2006.
Requirements: To be eligible you must be a Canadian citizen; have a recent
university degree and; have an interest in Parliament. This internship is
open to graduates of several disciplines, including the social sciences,
political science, law, and the humanities.
Positions: TBA
Duration: Approximately 9 months
Location: Ottawa
Compensation: $12,000 (Stipend)
Deadline for Applications: April 30, 2005

The Jewish Federation of Winnipeg, in conjunction with Hillel/JSA, is trying to hold focus group meetings with students from Red River, U of M and U of W. The purpose of these would be to establish the needs and wants of the group and would lay the ground work for an employment networking event to be held in May. The goal of this would be to set up summer employment, internship opportunities and possibly full time employment.

The film shows this Thursday, February 10th at 7:30PM at the University of
Winnipeg, Lockhart Hall (room 1L13).

Synopsis: A love triangle amidst the threat of Jewish attacks on Muslim holy
sites in Jerusalem provides the backdrop for this stirring drama. Army
officer Menachem studies in a West Bank yeshiva. Both Menachem and his
friend Pini are attracted to the Rabbi's daughter Michal, but when she
chooses Menachem, Pini turns against his friend and decides to frame him as
a terrorist.
