Dear Neuroscientists,
The success of MNN outreach and networking activities depends on dedicated
volunteers for each event. We are currently looking for a faculty volunteer
to chair the 2017 annual MNN scientific meeting. Most logistical meeting
planning can be handled by others, leaving the chair to focus on developing
a rich program for faculty, trainees and professions, as he or she sees fit.
If you are interested in being the 2017 meeting chair, please reply to this
email. As always, thank you for supporting the Manitoba Neuroscience
Network.
Chris Anderson
MNN President

Dear Neuroscientists,
Over the last few years, the Manitoba Neuroscience Network and their
Clinicians counterparts have held monthly joint meetings and the basic
scientists have showcased the basic science for their clinician colleagues.
This has been eagerly received by the clinicians and has provided an
opportunity for the basic scientists to discuss their research with a
clinical audience. This year, I am writing cordially to you all to see if
you may want to share your science with the rest of us. These monthly talks
are held last Friday of the month (9:00-10:00am) in Rm PX236/238, Psych
Health Bldg., Bannatyne Campus.

Dear Colleagues,
I am writing to request nomination for our 2016-2017 MNN invited speaker
series. Over the last few years, the MNN has actively invited more than 30
national and international distinguished speakers to come to Winnipeg and
interact with our scientific community. This has been achieved through a
close interaction between the MNN, Kleysen Neuroscience group and the Saint
Boniface Hospital. This has been a real opportunity for our Neuroscientists
to interact with the speakers and establish successful collaborative
projects. Many of these speakers visited our city for the first time and
were quite impressed with the quality, quantity and the depth of
neuroscience research at U of M.
I am writing to request your help in inviting world class scientists for
this year. I would like to extent this invitation to all aspects of
Neuroscience research and therefore would need your input.
Please send me name, email, and a line or two for the impact they have had
in your field of interest.
Looking forward to your emails.
Regards
Eftekhar

Graduate Course Announcement (2016-2017)
Human Brain Imaging Methods (IMED 7004)
This is a 1.5 credit hour course held on the Bannatyne Campus (Sep. 8, 2016
- Oct. 27, 2016). It will be of particular interest to graduate students
whose research is in neuroscience. This course will provide an overview of
the in vivo brain imaging methods and how imaging data are analysed (e.g.,
MRI, PET, EEG). Students will have opportunity to perform hands-on practice
in computer labs with sample data.
The course has 2 components:
1. Lectures that will provide a systematic survey of different brain
imaging modalities, and
2. Computer Laboratory sessions in which students will perform
computer analysis using real brain imaging data.
