Dear Pedro, Thank you for your kind reply. I plan to review medical records using paper form. Expecting to have 1 observation at baseline to be entered in baseline file and 6-24 observations for time of follow-up, will be entered in follow-up file. Then data will be entered twice and compared (around 600 patients in total). I am trying to find an alternative way to collect data using papers. Palm would be solution but more expensive etc.. CHK file with calculations does not work as it did in EpiInfo

Hi, I wonder if someone can spot the syntax problem in this CHK file for the Beck Depression inventory. I've struggled for hours to get it to work the way it did under Epi Info. Basically, there are three conditions in an IF statement. I've tried with the two simple conditions alone and the script works (condition at the beginning & at the end). Combining conditions always gives the 'atrisk' calculated variable the answer "N". Is there a limitation or syntax difference in Epidata?? Here's the syntax. thanks for the help. Dear Jamie, Thank you so much for the solution for the query INCOMPATIBLE KEY VARIABLES. It worked well. Can you please help in two other situation also ? 1. There is a file say try.rec Is it possible to read it and write another file with 5 randomly selected records or selecting every 4th record (as done in systematic sampling). The documentation of the commands such as SET RANDOM SEED and RANDOM SIMULATIONS is not clear in the help file. I am attaching a sample file try.zip. 2.What is the equivalent of SET LISTREC=ON/OFF (EPI6) in Epi Analysis ver 2.03 ? With regards, Dr. Shavinder Singh

Screen Flickering in Epidata data entry

I'm using epidata on thinkpad winXP sp2 laptop- all drivers are updated: One "bug" which is very annoying is that the whole screen output constantly flickers and is unstable when I enter data. It seems like the whole screen sort of disappears with every key that is pressed. This bug is only present in the data entry form Is this something which can be prevented?? thanks -- Jannik
