Dear EpiData-list: When I build a "qus" file as following: cnid chinaidno ################## But I have the trouble when I enter the data, it always appears wrong number at the last two digits. For example: I want to enter the data as 221133445566778899. But the last two digit”99” will change to some other digits such as 34 or other,randomly. How can I solve the problem? Dear EpiData-list, I am having trouble running EpiData on my Mac. I have downloaded the version of EpiData for Macs, and used the directions in "readme.txt". I double click on runManager.command and then on startManager.app. The double click on startManager.app is always followed by an error message. I've tried several times, as has a student on her own Mac. We always receive the error message and cannot run the program. Is there a fix or workaround for this? Apologies if this has been asked before, we were not able to find a solution that worked on the archive. Thank you so much for your help. Prepare double entry in EpiData Manager v1.4.3.3

I have been attempting to use the above feature on a 64 bit Windows 7 professional machine but using the standard 32 bit version of the software (as most users in the organisation still have 32 bit machines), together with EpiData Entry Client v1.4.3.2. My understanding is that the process should work in the same way with this software as with EpiData Entry v3.1. Namely, in Manager create the duplicate project file using the "Prepare Double Entry" and then in EpiData Entry Client to open that duplicate project file and enter data, at which point any discrepancy between what is entered the second time compared to that entered first time should result in a message window listing possible actions the data enterer can undertake. First, I note that in Epidata Manager, no menu appears to select the ID field on which to compare the two files, so that data therefore needs to be entered in the same order in the duplicate file as was done in the original file (which seems to me to be a limitation). Second, upon opening the duplicate file in EpiData Entry Client, there is no message confirming that comparison is being made between the original and the duplicate and indeed, regardless of what data is entered in the duplicate file, no message window appears when there is a discrepancy between that entered in the original and that entered in the duplicate file. I feel like I must be missing something. Could somebody please enlighten. Problem with export to Excel

Hello everybody I just started to work with EpiData-Manager v1.4.2 this week. I was able to create a data entry form (questionnaire) and did start with data Input. After having finished the data entry of 3 patientforms I tried to export the data into an Excel-sheet (CSV-file). The problem is, that I am not able to fill in an excel-table properly. Instead of filling each heading into a seperate column in the excel-sheet everything is put into the first cell in the first column and separeted with a comma. More or less the same thing happens if I try to export my data with DDI. The only difference is that instead of commas the space-bar is used to separate the data in the line. Furthermore, some data is copied twice into the exported file. I will add a Word-document with screenshots, so your able to see what I'm referring to. I'd like to ask if you could help me to solve the problem (as a note: the same happend when I tried to export data out of the example form that was included in the download). Thanks in advance. Dear friends, some questions: 1) the length of the string in the generated .sps file is always 3 times the definition of the length of the string in Manager. for example: VL3 27-35(A) S1 145-204(A) in .sps but the length of S1 is 20 and that of VL3 is 3 in sample.v2.epx 2) How do I use the mssing values defined in Valuelabel Editor to set the missing values of the variables in SPSS? 3) Can I define the values of boolean type variables as 1 or 0? I use EpiData 3.1. In one of my projects I encountered a strange problem: The qes file contains 78 variables in total. Among them there are about 50 Y/N(1/0) variables. When I enter data into the rec file by EpiData and enter a series of "N"(0) for these Y/N variables ,the EpiData begins producing a prompting frame showing : "Access violation at addrss 00000000. Read of address 00000000." I have to hit the "OK" button repeatedly to make the prompting frames disappear. After they disappear, the program in chk file seems having stopped working. How can I enter my data normally?
