Early this afternoon Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to a report of a suspicious package received at the Fort Garry campus. Tests conducted on site have all proven negative. The item has been taken away for further analysis (as an additional safety precaution) before destruction by Province of Manitoba Environmental Compliance and Enforcement agency. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers kick-off against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at 7 p.m. on Friday, August 16, 2013 at Investors Group Field. Vehicle access to the Fort Garry campus and on-campus parking restrictions will begin at 5:30 p.m., while traffic set-up could begin as early as 4:30 p.m. Please watch for signage indicating traffic flow changes as you enter and exit campus.
Once again, there are no access restrictions for those travelling to and from campus on foot, by bike or by bus.
Those students, staff and faculty members travelling to campus by car between 5:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. will require a valid U of M parking permit and must enter via Kings Drive. This dedicated entrance is for U of M permit holders only, providing a shorter, easier route of entry. After 5:30 p.m., permit holders wishing to access campus via University Crescent or Chancellor Matheson will be rerouted to the Kings Drive entrance.
If you are unsure where the Kings Drive entrance is located, or how to access it, please follow this link to view a detailed map: http://goo.gl/maps/rh4qI
Those with a U of M parking permit can use any of the following lots, regardless of the letter that appears on their pass:
- A Lot
- B Lot
- L Lot
- AC Lot (southeast corner of Freedman Crescent)
- CTC Lot at the Crop Technology Centre
- D Lot (June-August only)
- R Lot (June-August only)
Students who are registered for a class on Friday evening should have already received an email outlining how to obtain a temporary evening parking pass through Parking Services.
For more information about access to campus and parking on event days, please visit http://investorsgroupfield.ca/ Find regular updates on Twitter at https://twitter.com/UMoutstanding
I encourage all of you to take in an event at the new stadium. Cheer on your own University of Manitoba Bisons football team on August 30 at 7 p.m. during their first game in the new stadium. Having superior spaces like Investors Group Field serve the students, staff and faculty of our university, making for a more dynamic, innovative and community-focused campus.
Thank you for your continued patience and support as we navigate this opening season at Investors Group Field.
Next Event Day: Sunday, September 8, 2013, Winnipeg Blue Bombers host the Banjo Bowl. Event starts at 3 p.m., access and parking restrictions begin at 1:30 p.m.
Sincerely,
Andrew Konowalchuk

Welcome (back) to the University of Manitoba!
You are receiving this email because you are currently registered for Fall 2013 courses. If you have changed your plans and no longer plan to attend the U of M this year, please ensure that you withdraw from your courses using Aurora Student. If you have any difficulty, please contact your faculty/advising office. You are responsible for tuition and general fees for all courses in which you are registered. The University of Manitoba will not cancel/de-register students from current term courses for non-payment.
Fall 2013 tuition fees are now available on Aurora Student!
Visit the Fee Information website<http://umanitoba.ca/student/records/fees/index.html> for details about fee assessment and for instructions on viewing your fee assessment.
The Fee Payment Deadline for Fall 2013 is Wednesday, September 4, 4:30 pm.
Avoid the lines - pay online! Refer to the Financial Services website<http://umanitoba.ca/admin/financial_services/revcap/StudentAccounts.htm> for accepted payment methods.
Late Fees<http://umanitoba.ca/student/records/fees/827.htm> will apply if you are registered for Fall 2013 term and do not pay the balance in full by the deadline, or if your initial registration and payment is after September 4.
Note: You are responsible for tuition and general fees for all courses in which you are registered. The University of Manitoba will not cancel/de-register students from current term courses for non-payment.
Sponsored Students:
If your fees are to be paid by an outside agency, you must have your sponsoring agency complete and submit a Tuition Sponsorship form. These arrangements must be made before the fee payment deadline to avoid late payment penalties or Holds on student accounts. The form may be obtained from the Revenue, Capital and General Accounting website<http://umanitoba.ca/admin/financial_services/revcap/sponsorship.htm>.
Invoices to third parties are mailed out at the end of the revision period. Late receipt of sponsor payments may result in Holds on student accounts.
Fee Payment Deferrals for Student Aid recipients:
If you are expecting a Government Student Loan, you may be eligible for a fee payment deferral. Tuition fee deferrals may be arranged prior to the fee payment deadline when students have unforeseen delays in receiving their government student loans. Deferrals are only for students with current Government student loans; no other payment extensions/plans are available through the Financial Aid & Awards Office<http://umanitoba.ca/student/fin_awards/>.
UMSU Health & Dental Plan:
