[An important message from the Registrar's Office]
Read below for important information about Waitlists over the Winter Holiday.
Waitlist notifications for Winter Term 2023
Please be advised that waitlist notifications for the Winter Term 2023 will not be issued during the Winter Holiday, from Thursday, December 22 at 12:00 p.m. to Wednesday, January 4 at 9:00 a.m. (CST).
What this means to you:
* If space becomes available in a course with a Waitlist, a Waitlist Notification will not be issued until notifications resume on January 4.
* All waitlist positions will be maintained during the Winter Holiday.
* Any student who receives a Waitlist Notification prior to Dec 22 at 12:00 pm CST will have the full 24-hour period to register.
* Registration for courses will remain open during the Winter Holiday. In addition to adding and dropping courses, you will be able to add yourself to a waitlist during this time.
This allows students to enjoy their break without having to worry about checking their waitlist position, and it also ensures that they can access support from their advisor when they receive a Waitlist Notification.

Dear UM community,
We believe in making the world a better place - in big and small ways. That's why I asked students and staff: What is one small act of kindness you are going to do this holiday season? Here's what they had to say:

Message from Dr. Michael Benarroch, President and Vice-Chancellor
Dear UM community,
The University of Manitoba is extending its mandatory masking policy into the Winter Term to continue supporting a safe work and learning environment.
We made this decision after consulting with public health experts and our UM community. We have heard from many of you, and we recognize that there is a diverse range of perspectives on the current need for masks. At this time, many in our community continue to ask that UM maintain its mask policy to support a safe in-person environment.
Though we know a mask mandate can't continue indefinitely, we also know that COVID and other respiratory infection cases are high and putting significant strain on our health care system. Masks are among the most effective public health tools to reduce transmission, and use is far greater when supported by a mandate.
We will look at easing the mask mandate when it is safer to do so. Going into Winter Term, a mask mandate is the best way to protect our community right now.
Please find details of the policy here<https://umanitoba.ca/covid-19/health-safety#mask-use>, and thank you for taking this important step to protect yourself and our community.
Protect the herd. Wear your mask this Winter Term.
Thank you. Miigwetch.
