UM Learn [cid:94003019f4105b0920fcbb44708917272778004a6d@Cherwell.com] We are pleased to announce that in May 2015, the learning management system, Desire2Learn, will be renamed to ‘UM Learn’. This change reflects and celebrates the commitment that the University of Manitoba is making in teaching and learning. In addition, an important system refresh will coincide with the launch of the new look of UM Learn. The refresh will retain the intuitive user interface while providing enhancements to the student experience. The Centre for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning, The Division of Extended Education, Information Services & Technology, and Desire2Learn, Inc. have committed to continuing their strong partnership to help support the efforts to enhance teaching and learning at the University of Manitoba. IMPORTANT IT SECURITY NOTICE Effective immediately, to prevent the spread of viruses, the University Of Manitoba no longer allows receipt of executable files through an email. Executable files can contain harmful code that might cause malicious software to download to your computer or shared folders. Common executable file types sent to you as an attachment in an email will automatically be removed from the message. Examples include: .com, .exe, .isp, .jse, .vbs, .bat, etc. Please note that zipped or compressed files (.zip, .tar, etc.) containing executable file extensions will also be blocked. The following message will be added to the email you receive when an attachment has been removed. Telecom PBX Upgrade 28 Jan, 20:00 - 22:00 Please be advised that due to Telecom Infrastructure upgrades, there will be intermittent outages of individual IP phones from 8 PM - 10 PM at both Bannatyne and Fort Garry campuses on 28 Jan 2015. In addition, there will be a complete outage of all telecom services beginning at approximately 9:30 PM lasting for 10 minutes which will result in the following service interruptions: No 911 service from a university phone No 555 service No local calls No long distance calls No voice mail service No internal calls on campus Code Blue / Emergency stations will not work Elevator emergency phones will not work In the case of an emergency please call 911 from a CELLULAR phone. For non-emergency assistance please call University of Manitoba Security at 269-3363 from a CELLULAR phone. Thank you for your patience during this required maintenance.
