> > Dear students, > Dr. Jody Rebek (LinkedIn <https://ca.linkedin.com/in/jody-lynn-rebek-ph-d-550aba1>) from Algoma University is inviting you to participate in a mindfulness research study called "Awaken U: Mixed Method Research of Mindfulness in Undergraduate Development." > > As a participant, you will engage in weekly mindfulness practices to complete an 8-week program (which will take about one to two hours per week or as much time as you'd like), and you may withdraw your participation at any time. You will have the opportunity to help design the program by voting on your preferences for the weekly mindfulness activities. The consent form contains all the precautions Dr. Rebek is taking to ensure participant identity remains confidential, as well as the benefits and risks to your participation. Good afternoon, At the University of Manitoba, we are committed to communicate and apply knowledge, and to contribute to the health and well-being of the people of Manitoba, Canada and the world. This mission is embedded into everything we do, and inspires us to act in the best interest of our community. With the test positively rate in Manitoba increasing as the COVID-19 pandemic third wave swells, we as a community need to follow public health orders and take all necessary steps to keep ourselves and each other safe. I encourage faculty, staff and students to get vaccinated as soon as you are eligible. Becoming vaccinated not only benefits you, it protects your family, friends, classmates and co-workers. In particular, it helps protect the most vulnerable among us including those who may not be eligible to receive a vaccine. We are all eager to safely return to in-person instruction, athletics, performances, social gatherings and all the meaningful activity that adds to the richness of the university experience. The vaccine gives us great hope that we will be able to get to the other side of this pandemic and resume the in-person engagement we all miss so dearly. Well done, Bisons! As we head into Winter exams, please take some time to review the exam resources<https://umanitoba.ca/registrar/final-exams/final-exam-supports-students> that have been designed specifically for this remote learning period. Also consider the technology tips and resources<https://umanitoba.ca/student-supports/academic-supports/academic-learning/s…> that were developed to help you navigate virtual exams successfully. Lastly, I cannot stress enough how important it is to familiarize yourself with the University's expectations regarding Academic Integrity and the five values that guide us in undertaking academic work: honesty, trust, fairness, respect, responsibility and courage. As you know, UM's compassionate grading options<https://umanitoba.ca/coronavirus/resources-students#academic-support> are currently in effect, and you have until May 31st to make your decision as to whether to exclude a Fall 2020 grade, a Winter 2021 grade, or the grade from one course that spans both of those terms. Invitation to Participate in a Research Study: Cross-Canada Release of the Post-Secondary Student Stressors Index (PSSI)

Dear Student, You are invited to participate in a cross-Canada research study to evaluate post-secondary student stress led by Dr. Brooke Linden (Principal Investigator, Queen’s University). The Post-Secondary Student Stressors Index (PSSI) was designed to help post-secondary institutions across Canada better target campus mental health services, with the ultimate goal of improving mental health outcomes for students. To ensure that the PSSI would serve students in the best possible way, students were involved heavily throughout the development and testing of this tool. Now it’s time to use the PSSI at post-secondary institutions across Canada to improve our understanding of the types of stressors students are managing in different parts of the country. We are looking for student volunteers to complete an online survey. The first survey was conducted in October, and the second was conducted in January. If you did not participate in the survey in October or January, you can still participate this month! The survey should take you about 20 mins to complete. As a thank you for participating, you will have the opportunity to submit your e-mail into a draw after each survey for a chance to win one of several $50 gift cards.
