We’re looking forward to seeing you on our campuses next week as we kick off the Fall Term. Please keep the following in mind as you plan your commute. Road construction Please be aware that there is ongoing construction on the Fort Garry campus and in the surrounding area: * Abinojii Mikanah – limited to one westbound lane leading up to Pembina Highway * Pembina Highway – lane closures leading to/from the intersection at University Crescent * University Cresent – lane closures from Thatcher Drive to Dysart Road Expect delays on route to the Fort Garry Campus and plan ahead. Allow for an additional 15 to 30 minutes on your commute. Winnipeg Transit changes The Winnipeg Transit route overhaul took place over the summer, and the Fall schedule changeover is planned for August 31. Important: New data storage limits being introduced for M365 Outlook, OneDrive and SharePoint/Teams This message is sent on behalf of Terry Bunio, Acting Chief Information Officer, Information Services & Technology Microsoft has announced that it will no longer be offering "unlimited" storage as part of licensing agreements with its educational institution customers. As part of this decision, it is imposing new, institution-wide storage limits for data on M365 applications including OneDrive, SharePoint, MS Teams and email. This change affects all Microsoft 365 Education users globally. For more information on why Microsoft is making these changes to Microsoft 365 storage please visit https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/education/products/microsoft-365-storage-op… What you need to know As a result of this change<https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/education/products/microsoft-365-storage-op…>, the University of Manitoba is setting new storage limits for students, faculty and staff to align with this new policy. This change will affect your ability to store and edit files in your One Drive account or SharePoint and may affect your ability to send emails if you are over the limit. New storage limits for students as of September 3, 2025 Email - 50 GB limit OneDrive - 25 GB limit SharePoint/Teams - 50 GB limit Microsoft OneDrive, Outlook and SharePoint will notify you within these applications when you are at 80% storage used or are over the limit. Should you exceed these limits, you will lose the ability to send email and/or your documents in OneDrive or SharePoint will be converted to Read Only until your storage is reduced. Take action now We are starting this initiative September 3, 2025. If you are over the new quota, you have up to six months to review and clean up your files and email to meet the new storage quota. If you're currently over the limit, you will get an extra 25 GB to help with cleanup. This extra space will be removed once you're back within quota. Tracking momentum and measuring progress on UM’s strategic goals

[Announcement-Header-1200px-2] Message from Dr. Diane Hiebert-Murphy, Provost and Vice-President (Academic) August 27, 2025 Dear UM Students, In 2024, we launched MOMENTUM: Leading Change Together, UM Strategic Plan, 2024-2029 and Time for Action: UM’s Truth and Reconciliation Framework<https://umanitoba.ca/about-um/um-truth-and-reconciliation-framework>. These plans, along with other key institutional plans, define where we want to go as a university. Today, we are sharing the MOMENTUM Implementation Plan<https://umanitoba.ca/sites/default/files/2025-06/2025-06-momentum-implement…> which focuses on how we will get there and how we will track our progress along the way. The implementation plan was developed by a steering committee comprised of students, faculty, staff, and senior leaders. As implementation is an ongoing and iterative process, the committee will regularly review actions, gather feedback, and use evidence to guide next steps and to report back to the community. Central to this work is the ongoing collaboration with the Truth and Reconciliation Advisory Committee to ensure that the commitments of Time for Action are meaningfully embedded in our implementation efforts and in measuring our progress moving forward. Our success depends on reciprocal relationship-building, collaboration, and meaningful engagement—both within and across our institution and with community partners. AUGUST 2025 Final Exam Period approaching The August 2025 Final Exam period runs from August 11 - 15, 2025. The complete exam schedule can be found on the Final Exam Schedule webpage<https://umanitoba.ca/registrar/final-exams/final-exam-schedule>, and your personal exam schedule is available on your My Exams Card in Aurora<https://aurora.umanitoba.ca/banprod/twbkwbis.P_WWWLogin>. Please make sure to confirm your exam date, time, location, and format. Plan your arrival: Make sure you have a plan to get to campus early in case transport does not go as planned. Check out the classroom in which your exam is taking place in advance! 2. Download the UM Safe App<https://news.umanitoba.ca/enhance-your-safety-on-campus-with-the-um-safe-ap…>: a direct link to Campus Security Services for any emergencies that may arise. 3. Supplies: Ensure you have the necessary writing utensils and some extras! Students must ensure that all items required for the examination are placed on top of the desk prior to the start of the examination. 4. Attendance & identification: Students must display their UM student ID card or government issued photo identification (such as a passport or driver's license) and are required to sign an attendance form. 5. Arriving late: * Students who arrive more than 30 minutes after the start of the examination will not be permitted to write the examination. * Students who arrive less than 30 minutes late, will be permitted to write the examination, but must stop writing at the end of the scheduled exam time. * Students are not permitted to enter the examination room after at least one other student who is writing the same examination has left the examination room. * If you are late and not permitted to write an examination, you will be asked to complete the appropriate form by an invigilator and will then be advised to contact the Office of your Dean or Director no later than the next business day to discuss possible alternatives. 1. Illness/ emergency during your exam: If you become ill during the course of an examination and are unable to continue, you must report at once to the Head Invigilator, hand in the examination, and indicate either that you wish to submit your examination paper as: (1) completed; or (2) not completed and with the intention to request a deferred examination. Medical or supporting documentation will likely be required for your deferral request. 2. Leaving the exam: * Students are not permitted to leave the examination room during the first thirty (30) minutes of an examination. * Students are not permitted to re-enter an examination room until all examination scripts have been collected. ________________________________ Unauthorized materials in exams Students are not permitted to access any unauthorized materials during an examination. This includes but is not limited to calculators, books, notes, pencil cases, or any electronic device capable of wireless communication and/or storing information. However, students may bring in such materials or devices when permission has been given by the instructor. Students may store valuables and personal items under the desk or chair of the examination room but may not have access to these items during the examination. Items stowed under the desk or chair must not obstruct the aisles of the examination room.
