It will be listed in MM/DD/YYYY format. * Make sure you have no holds on your account, that you meet your faculty requirements, and that your student status permits registration. A green check mark indicates you are eligible to register, while a red mark means there is an issue that needs to be addressed. Revision period (Add Drop period) deadlines for most courses: The last day to drop a course (with a refund) is one working day prior to the last day to add. * Fall Term: last day to drop is Tuesday, September 16, 2025; last day to add is Wednesday, September 17, 2025. * Winter Term: last day to drop is Monday, January 19, 2026; last day to add is Tuesday, January 20, 2026. Courses dropped during this period are not recorded on official transcripts or student records, and tuition charges will be reversed for dropped courses. During the registration revision period, you can: * Add a new class if you changed your mind about your course subjects, or if a course that was previously full is now available. * Register in a course for which you were waitlisted if you receive notification that space is available. * Update your residency status in your Aurora account and receive a fee adjustment.* Once the registration revision period ends, you can still Voluntarily Withdraw from a class, however, it will be recorded on your transcript, and you will not receive a tuition refund. You can view the Fall and Winter Term dates and revision periods on the Important Dates and Deadlines page<https://umanitoba.ca/registrar/important-dates-deadlines>. * If you have recently become a Permanent Resident, or Canadian Citizen, then you can update your residency status and pay domestic tuition fees. Status updates received after the revision period will be accepted, but your fees will not be adjusted until the start of the next term. Registration Permissions If you need permission to register for a course, contact your advising office<https://umanitoba.ca/student-supports/academic-supports/academic-advising#f…> before your registration time to avoid registration errors and delays. This includes getting permission to register in mutually exclusive courses (mutually exclusive courses are courses that have overlapping content and CANNOT be held with one another). Contact your advising office if you plan to register in a course that is mutually exclusive to a course you already attempted. You will need permission even if you failed the course. ________________________________ Waitlists Some courses will have a Waitlist<https://umanitoba.ca/registrar/waitlist>, allowing students to add themselves to the waitlist and be notified when a space becomes available. You should know that you will not be able to: * register in a course and go on a waitlist for other section(s) of the same course * go on a waitlist for a course that has a time conflict with a course you are already registered in. The Copyright Office has received numerous reports that course materials created by faculty have been posted or shared without the permission of the faculty member who owns that content. As a student, it's important to understand that course materials created by an instructor or professor are copyrighted content. These materials must not be shared or distributed in any format without authorization (this includes course note sharing or tutoring websites such as Course Hero, Chegg, etc.). Winter 2025 Final Exam Period approaching The Winter 2025 Final Exam period runs from April 11 - 25, 2025 (excluding April 18-20). The complete exam schedule can be found on the Final Exam Schedule webpage<https://umanitoba.ca/registrar/final-exams/final-exam-schedule>, and your personal exam schedule is available on your My Exams Card in Aurora<https://aurora.umanitoba.ca/banprod/twbkwbis.P_WWWLogin>. Please make sure to confirm your exam date, time, location, and format. Covered in this email: * Prepare for your in-person exams * Unauthorized materials in exams * Prepare for your online exams * Online exam issues * Exam conflicts and deferrals * Student access to final exams ________________________________ Prepare for your in-person exam 1. Plan your arrival: Make sure you have a plan to get to campus early in case transport does not go as planned. Check out the classroom in which your exam is taking place in advance! 1. Download the UM Safe App<https://news.umanitoba.ca/enhance-your-safety-on-campus-with-the-um-safe-ap…>: a direct link to Campus Security Services for any emergencies that may arise. 1. Supplies: Ensure you have the necessary writing utensils and some extras! Students must ensure that all items required for the examination are placed on top of the desk prior to the start of the examination. 1. Attendance & identification: Students must display their UM student ID card or government issued photo identification (such as a passport or driver's license) and are required to sign an attendance form. 1. Arriving late: * Students who arrive more than 30 minutes after the start of the examination will not be permitted to write the examination. * Students who arrive less than 30 minutes late, will be permitted to write the examination, but must stop writing at the end of the scheduled exam time. * Students are not permitted to enter the examination room after at least one other student who is writing the same examination has left the examination room. * If you are late and not permitted to write an examination, you will be asked to complete the appropriate form by an invigilator and will then be advised to contact the Office of your Dean or Director no later than the next business day to discuss possible alternatives. 1. Illness/ emergency during your exam: If you become ill or receives word of a family emergency during the course of an examination and are unable to continue, you must report at once to the Head Invigilator, hand in the examination, and indicate either that you wish to submit your examination paper as: (1) completed; or (2) not completed and with the right to request a deferred examination. Medical or supporting documentation may be required for your deferral request. 1. Leaving the exam: * Students are not permitted to leave the examination room during the first thirty (30) minutes of an examination. * Students are not permitted to re-enter an examination room until all examination scripts have been collected. ________________________________ Unauthorized materials in exams Students are not permitted to access any unauthorized materials during an examination. This includes but is not limited to calculators, books, notes, pencil cases, or any electronic device capable of wireless communication and/or storing information. Book some time with a tutor<https://manitoba.mywconline.com/> in person and online for content studying, writing support, and study skills help. Depending on your needs, you can book an appointment with a content tutor who can help you understand concepts specific to your area of study, a Writing tutor who can provide feedback on your academic writing, or a Study Skills tutor who can help with time management. Survey Regarding the Summer Term Academic Schedule (Students)

This email is sent on behalf of the ad hoc committee reviewing the current summer term academic schedule. In 2021, the structure of the Summer Term Academic Schedule was revised to provide a more simplified model with two 6-week segments and one 12-week segment. Each segment is followed by one week without evaluation or instruction to facilitate course grading. Field trip and co-op courses are scheduled separately as appropriate. In November 2023, Senate approved a motion to review the Summer Term Academic Schedule. An ad hoc Committee to Review the Summer Term Academic Schedule was established in 2024 with the following members: Donna Martin (Associate Dean, Graduate Programs, Nursing) Greg Smith (Vice-Provost (Academic Planning and Programs)) Jeff Adams (University Registrar and Executive Director, Enrolment Services) Gayle Gordon (Associate Registrar and Director of Systems) Philip Ferguson (Engineering) Jeremy Patzer (Arts) John Sorensen (Science) Rob Hoppa (Associate Dean, Research, Arts) Horace Luong (Associate Dean, Student Experience, Science) Taylor Friesen (Agricultural and Food Science) Rachhvir Dhaliwal, (UMSU Vice President University Affairs) Christopher Yendt (UMGSA President) The objectives of the review are to investigate any impacts of the Summer Term Academic Schedule structure on: * students' summer employment, * units' ability to hire instructors to teach Summer Term courses, and * academic staff members' ability to take vacation time in the summer. Additionally, the ad hoc committee will determine if the goals for restructuring the Summer Term Academic Schedule were met. The goals were: * provide an outstanding student experience, * create a schedule that enables students to learn course material in a comparable way to courses taught in the Fall and Winter terms, * allow for sufficient time in an examination period with few or no exam conflicts, * provide time for instructors to complete marking and for students to receive their grades prior to beginning their next courses. We are interested in learning about the perspectives of the current Summer Term Academic Schedule amongst all students. You are invited to complete a confidential survey about the current Summer Term Academic Schedule. The survey will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. Survey results will be summarized and included in a report to Senate in 2025. This survey was approved by the UM Survey Review Committee. UM’s commitment to anti-racism and our anti-racism learning framework

[University of Manitoba logo] March 21 marks the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. This annual occasion recognizes historical and ongoing injustices and prejudices fueled by racial discrimination. In Canada, Indigenous peoples, racially marginalized people, and marginalized religious communities face racism and discrimination regularly. Institutions such as universities are inextricably linked to Canada’s colonial legacy, with racial inequities manifested through policies, practices and culture. We underscore UM’s fundamental commitments to anti-racism and social justice, outlined in MomentUM: Leading Change Together, UM’s 2024-2029 strategic plan. This includes a call to work together to dismantle systemic racism, to advance Reconciliation for transformative change, and to foster a vibrant community for all. UM’s Anti-Racism Task Force, established in 2022, gathered voices from across our campuses, while building on decades of community anti-racist activism at UM. It recommended areas for immediate action focused on education, policies and processes, and aimed at eliminating all forms of racism across all areas and levels of the institution. “This work is not only important; it’s essential.” - President Michael Benarroch The learning journey on racism and anti-racism To advance these foundational commitments, UM is providing meaningful learning and engagement for students, staff, and faculty at various stages of their learning journeys about racism and anti-racism. The Anti-Racism Learning Framework is responsive and flexible. It seeks to increase visibility for the many learning opportunities on racism and anti-racism organised by units, groups, and individuals across UM campuses. It also highlights centrally-organised workshops, events, and series with a racial justice lens including the Public Classroom initiative, Indigenous Scholars Series, Indigenous Summer Institute, Fireside Chats, and Data Justice Series. Starting in April 2025, the framework will include shared foundational learning delivered through annual Anti-Racism Training, as mandated for all public employees by the Manitoba provincial government. Since then, we’ve made important progress on infrastructure updates. Now we are launching a key initiative under our education pillar. Campus Safety Education Sessions UM has partnered with the Winnipeg Police Service to offer safety training sessions for faculty, staff, and students on responding to active threats on campus. Beginning this March, these sessions, open to all, will be held annually at the Bannatyne and Fort Garry campuses.
