Dear UM students, Happy New Year and welcome back to a new term! The Winter 2013 Fee Payment Deadline is Monday, January 7. Check your Fee Balance in Aurora Student: Go to Enrolment & Academic Records>Registration>View Account Summary by Term. Refer to the Financial Services website<http://umanitoba.ca/admin/financial_services/revcap/StudentAccounts.htm> for payment options. Late Fees<http://umanitoba.ca/student/records/fees/827.htm> will apply if you are registered for the Winter 2013 Term and do not pay the balance in full by the deadline. Reminder: You are responsible for tuition and general fees for all courses in which you are registered. Note: The University of Manitoba will not cancel/de-register students from current term courses for non-payment. Where are your Winter Term classes? The location of the Winter Term portion of courses that span Fall and Winter Terms may differ from that of the Fall Term portion. "My Library Account" Outage

University of Manitoba Telephone Outage Notice

Information Services & Technology would like to inform users of a planned telephone outage from 6:00 A.M. to 8:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 8. This maintenance will impact all telephone services on both campuses. The phone services that will be impacted are: No 911 service from a university phone No 555 service No local calls No long distance calls No voicemail service No internal calls on campus Code Blue stations will not work Elevator emergency phones will not work Panic alarms may experience periodic outages In the case of an emergency please call 911 from a CELLULAR phone. For non-emergency assistance please call University of Manitoba Security at 269-3363 from a CELLULAR phone Thank you for your patience during this required maintenance. National Philanthropy Day

Dear faculty, staff and students at the University of Manitoba, Today, November 15, we celebrate National Philanthropy Day (NPD) across the country. This annual event began in the United States in 1986 as special day to honour the impact of people who give generously to support causes that are important to them or volunteer their time to make a difference in their community. Earlier this month, thegovernment of Canada passed a new bill to permanently establish November 15 as National Philanthropy Day in our country. At the University of Manitoba, we are thankful to our faculty, staff and students for their contributions. In countless ways, your generosity has made a positive impact on our university, our community and our world. All over the world, celebrations are being held to honour philanthropists and volunteers who make a difference in their communities. The Association of Fundraising Professionals, Manitoba Chapter will be recognizing a number of people who are committed to improving life in our province. Among them are two of our graduates: John Prystanski (BA/88, JD/12) is being honoured for his work as an Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser and Mark Evans (BCSc [Hons]/84), MSc/86, PhD/88) is being honoured for his work as an Outstanding Philanthropist. These are just two members of the University of Manitoba community who volunteer their time and their talents to make our neighbourhoods and workplaces better places to live and to work.
