September 21, 2009 Registration Reminders for 2009-2010 . The last day to add Fall Term and Fall/Winter courses taught during the regular term schedule is Wednesday, September 23. Most students will register for courses through Aurora Student, but remember that if you are repeating a course you must seek approval from an advisor in your academic unit before registering. . The 50% refund of tuition fees on one term courses has been eliminated. Refer to the Refunds <http://umanitoba.ca/student/records/fees/829.htm> web page for details. The deadline to drop a Fall Term course with a full refund of tuition fees is Wednesday, September 23. You may drop Fall Term courses after this date, but you will receive no refund and the drop will appear on your record as a VW (Voluntary Withdrawal). The deadline to VW from Fall Term courses is Wednesday, November 18, 2009. Note that courses taught outside the standard term schedule will have different refund and withdrawal deadlines. Refer to the course outline or teaching unit for further information. . The UM will not cancel/de-register students from current term courses due to non-payment of fees. You are financially and academically responsible for all courses in which you are registered after the Revision deadline - September 23, 2009. Failure to pay for your courses will not result in a de-registration of courses in the current term. Students who fail to pay for courses will be placed on <http://umanitoba.ca/student/records/registration/steps/652.htm> Hold and will be de-registered from courses that begin in Winter Term. If you have registered and have changed your mind about attending, be sure to formally withdraw from courses through Aurora Student to avoid being held responsible for the associated fees. . Aurora Student is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The September 23rd deadline is 11:59 p.m. central daylight time. It is strongly advised that you intend to add or drop courses you should do so before 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday while student services office are open to provide assistance and that you do not leave your add or drop until the last minute. Notice from the Vice President (Administration)

Late this past Friday afternoon Winnipeg Police Service announced the arrest of two high school students on charges of conspiracy to commit murder. According to police, the two 17-year-olds had planned to target a number of public institutions, including two high schools, a local church and the University of Manitoba. Police have informed the University that the male and female teens were the sole individuals involved in the alleged plan, and that there was and is no risk to the University of Manitoba community as both individuals remain in custody. Winnipeg Police Service continues to work on the case and liaise directly with the University. The University of Manitoba takes this opportunity to remind our community that there are emergency notification procedures in place, including annunciator phones in classrooms, an emergency web site and text/phone messaging to students and staff. If you receive an emergency message via any of these means, please follow the instructions provided. Fee Payment for Winter Term Courses Deadline for payment of Winter Term fees is Thursday January 8, 2009. . If you have questions or concerns about your student account, call the Registrar's Office at 474-9420 or drop in to Room 400 University Centre during business hours (8:30 - 4:30 Monday to Friday). Grades . Grades are available in Aurora Student as they are submitted by instructors. Log in to Aurora Student, select Enrolment & Academic Records > Student Records > View Final Grades. Registration Changes . Changes to your Winter Term registration are made through Aurora Student. The deadline for registration revisions for Winter Term is Monday, January 19. . Note that January 19 is also the last day to VW a Fall/Winter spanned course (full year course) without being held responsible for the Winter Term portion of tuition fees. You are responsible for fees for any course in which you are registered after January 19. Note: the deadline to receive a 50% refund for a Winter Term course is February 2. . If you know you did not achieve the grade needed in a Fall Term course that is prerequisite to a Winter Term course, drop the Winter Term course as soon as you know your status. The space you give up will be then available to another student and this will free up time in your schedule to add another course before it fills up. Planning to Graduate in February or May 2009? All undergraduate students must declare their intent to graduate through Aurora Student. The deadline to declare your intent to graduate through Aurora Student is January 31 for May 2009 graduation. If you intend to graduate in February 2009 and did not declare online, you must contact your faculty office. .
