Mario Pinto, Vice-President (Research and International) And Dr. Annemieke Farenhorst, Associate Vice-President (Research) Dear University of Manitoba Community, We invite you to attend the next Community Engagement Session as we continue our Strategic Research Planning process to develop a collective vision for the future of UM research. As we review the feedback received thus far, several areas of importance are emerging. The third community engagement session will ask participants to delve more deeply into our strengths, the impact of our research, and potential thematic areas. This session will again allow for interactive small group discussions to address key questions. If you are joining virtually, you will be able to move between virtual break out rooms to provide your feedback on each question. Summaries from each group discussion will be shared with the larger group for an open conversation. If you haven’t already done so, there is still time to share your big ideas to inform the University of Manitoba’s strategic vision for the future. If you have completed the survey already, thank you for sharing your thoughts. As described in our initial invitation, the survey contains 9 open-ended questions—you may answer as many or as few questions as you wish. There is also the opportunity to answer a series of optional demographic questions to help us understand the community voices heard in the process. The anticipated time to complete this survey is 10 to 20 minutes. Participation in the survey is completely voluntary and is intended to be anonymous; should any identifying data be collected in participant responses to the open-ended questions, it will be held in strict confidence. In this email: * Registration Times * Registration Eligibility * Initial Registration Period * Waitlists * Resources Registration Times _____ Registration Access Times are available through your Aurora Account. You will be able to view your time on March 20th, 2023. To view your registration time: * Log into Aurora<https://aurora.umanitoba.ca/banprod/twbkwbis.P_GenMenu?name=bmenu.P_MainMnu>. * Select 'Enrolment and Academic Records.' * Select 'Registration & Exams.' * Select 'Registration Time and Status.' * Choose the academic term from the dropdown menu, your registration access time for the selected term will be displayed. Registration Eligibility _____ Before you register, it is important to ensure that you are eligible to register. Your eligibility to register will be displayed on the Registration time and Status page in Aurora. Your ability to register is dependent on a few items: * Your Student Status * Your Academic Standing * Whether you have any Holds<https://umanitoba.ca/registrar/holds-and-student-status#why-am-i-on-hold> on your account, * Your assigned Registration Time<https://umanitoba.ca/registrar/registration/steps-registration#registration…>. If any of these items display a yellow triangle adjacent to them in Aurora, you need to attend to the relevant item before you register. Initial Registration Period _____ The initial registration period will run from Monday March 27th, until Thursday, March 30th. Registration will close on Friday March 31st, until 1:00pm. Registration will reopen on Monday, March 31st, at 1:00 pm, and will remain open until the end of the revision period. During the initial registration period, spaces in some high-demand courses are released each day in equal numbers to ensure fair access for all students. Any remaining spaces and/or waitlists for these courses will be available to all students. These courses are identified in the class schedule by the following message: "This course is subject to gradual space release." We are now entering the second stage of the consultation process, and we want to engage with you further through a student survey. This online survey has been informed by the discussions in the first phase, and it provides an opportunity to dive deeper into the UM community’s thoughts and goals about the university’s future. The survey contains 9 open-ended questions—you may answer as many or as few questions as you wish. There is also the opportunity to answer a series of optional demographic questions to help us understand the community voices heard in the process. The anticipated time to complete this survey is 10 to 20 minutes.
