Update - Arrest Made in Connection to Recent Security Incident

Mauro Residence. We extend our gratitude to both the WPS and our University Security Services for their swift and diligent response. We also appreciate the vigilance and support of our university community and the public during this time. The safety and well-being of our university community remains our top priority. In response to this event, we have introduced additional security measures on campus, including: * Increased security presence in the lobby of each residence building on a 24-hour basis, complementing our regular nightly security schedule. * Additional security personnel at residence lobby entrances. * Routine checks of all residence entrances and exits. * A review and enhancement of specific door security as needed. Important Security Update - Image Release of Residence Incident Suspect

Mauro Residence in which an unauthorized individual entered the building and assaulted a resident. Security Services are assisting Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) and supports are being provided to the affected residents. Effective today, UM is increasing the security presence on campus for the immediate future. WPS has released an image of the individual believed to be responsible. As part of their ongoing investigation, we are sharing this with our university community to support efforts to identify and locate the suspect. If you have any information that could assist in the investigation, please contact WPS immediately. The safety and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff are of the utmost importance. Dear UM community, The University of Manitoba has embarked on a consultation process to examine its sport and recreation brands, including the Bisons (which has not been updated in nearly 25 years), Mini U Programs, Junior Bisons and UM Recreation Services. This process will explore people's passion for the brands, consideration of the brands reflecting today's students and UM community, as well as alignment to UM's institutional brand that launched in 2019. As part of our commitment to ensuring we represent all UM Bisons, we are asking that you take a few moments to complete a survey. Your answers are valuable to us and will help inform these brands. This survey is being conducted by Academica Group Inc. on our behalf to ensure your individual answers remain confidential. We want you to hear what it means to you. That's why, at the Office of Equity Transformation Town Hall on Nov. 6, we'll be asking this question: What makes UM a vibrant community for you? Please join us to provide your input and to learn more about the work and accomplishments of the Office of Equity Transformation (OET). This Town Hall will feature community members involved in building towards greater equity, anti-oppression, anti-racism, anti-ableism, diversity and inclusion at UM.
