bw_horizontal[1] Registrars Office August 10, 2010 2010-2011 Fee Assessment Information · If you have not yet registered for Fall 2010- Winter 2011, please remember that you will be required to first either provide or decline your consent for the U of M to share your tuition related financial information with the Manitoba government in support of the tuition tax credit for graduating students. Information and instructions are available on Aurora Student. · Fee assessments for 2010-2011 registrations are available on Aurora Student. The Fall Term Fee Payment Deadline is Wednesday, September 8, 2010. · Check the Financial <http://umanitoba.ca/admin/financial_services/revcap/payment.htm> Services website for available payment methods. · Tuition Fees have increased for all students. Refer to the Registrar <http://umanitoba.ca/student/records/fees/index.html> s Office fee website to determine the costs associated with your course of study. · Refer to the Refunds <http://umanitoba.ca/student/records/fees/829.htm> web page for details regarding refunds available depending on when you drop a course or program. Note that courses that do not follow standard term timelines have prorated refund and withdrawal deadlines. · The UM does not cancel/de-register students from current term courses due to non-payment of fees. You are financially and academically responsible for all courses in which you are registered after the Revision deadline. Failure to pay for your courses will not result in a de-registration of courses in the current term. Students who fail to pay for courses will be placed on <http://umanitoba.ca/student/records/registration/steps/652.htm> Hold and will be de-registered from courses that begin in Winter Term. If your plans have changed and you will not be attending, you must withdraw from your courses. Failure to withdraw through normal procedures will result in a grade being assigned to all courses in which you are registered in at the end of term and you will be liable for all associated fees. · If you are taking courses at Collège universitaire de Saint-Boniface (CUSB) you will be assessed course fees by the CUSB directly for these courses. You will receive a separate invoice from CUSB and must pay these fees directly to CUSB. UMSU Health & Dental Deadline to Opt-Out: Wednesday, September 22, 2010 Steps · Check your Aurora student fee account to ensure you were assessed the health and dental fees. · Fill out the online opt-out from. In order to opt-out you must have a plan/policy number for alternate extended coverage. (not Provincial Health or International Student Health insurance) · Print and hold on to the confirmation email you will receive from the auto generator when you complete your opt-out. You may be asked to provide this confirmation as proof at a later date. · With a successful opt-out , the UMSU Health & Dental fee will be reversed off your tuition after the opt-out deadline and by the end of September. Scholarship opportunity for returning undergraduate students

The following award opportunity is waiting for you! The Alumni Association Inc. of the University of Manitoba offers two annual scholarships for students who have excelled in their studies and have demonstrated leadership and/or commitment to voluntarism during the course of their academic career. Two scholarships valued at $3,750 each will be offered to undergraduate students who: (1) have successfully completed the second year of full-time study at the University of Manitoba (minimum of 48 credit hours), in any faculty or school; (2) will be in the next ensuing academic session (2010/11), enrolled full-time (minimum 60% course load) in the third year of study in any faculty or school; (3) have achieved a minimum degree grade point average of 3.0 or, as students in the Undergraduate Medical Education Program, are in good academic standing; (4) have demonstrated strong leadership abilities and/or a strong commitment to community through their volunteer activities. Consent to provide T2202a information: Action required

Action Required Dear all U of M students, As you may be aware, when you graduate from a post-secondary institution and live and work in Manitoba you are eligible for a rebate on tuition paid after December 31, 2003. Manitoba Finance and the Canada Revenue Agency require the University of Manitoba to send your T2202A tax receipt information to them each year to verify your eligibility for this rebate. Your consent is required for the University of Manitoba to begin submitting this information on your behalf. Consent is required only once. T2202A information for 2010 will be sent in early 2011. To provide your consent, log into Aurora Student and go to Enrolment & Academic Records |Declarations | Declare Consent for Release of T2202A Tax Receipt Information. Read the information carefully and either consent or decline to have your information sent to Manitoba Finance and the Canada Revenue Agency in support of the tuition tax credit. If you choose to decline, your T2202A receipt information will not be forwarded to Manitoba Finance and the Canada Revenue Agency. If you do not respond by June 30, 2010 you will be required to do so the next time you log in to register or to access your grades. The Hold that prevents you from registering or viewing grades will be removed immediately after you respond and you may proceed immediately without further delay. i.e. you will not have to log again. We are a group of researchers at the University of Manitoba conducting an online survey about family background and parenting received during childhood. There are also questions about other relationships in your life, your personality, adjustment, and opinions. We want to find out about some new and better ways to identify strengths and weaknesses in family relationships and we hope this information will be used to help families. University of Manitoba Security Services is urging caution following a reported incident of a purse snatching in the early evening March 13, 2010 in the vicinity of Chancellor Matheson Road. Students, faculty, and staff are urged to be aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious person(s) immediately. Security Services continues to work in conjunction with Winnipeg Police Service and reminds our community that the Department is available 24/7, providing safewalks, patrols, and immediate response to emergencies, Code Blue Poles and emergency phones throughout campus.
