I hope you have opportunities to connect with the people and places that give you joy, and to engage in activities that are restorative and fulfilling. Fall 2025 Final Exam Period approaching The Fall 2025 Final Exam period runs from Dec. 9 - 20, 2025. The complete exam schedule can be found on the Final Exam Schedule webpage<https://umanitoba.ca/registrar/final-exams/final-exam-schedule>, and your personal exam schedule is available on your My Exams Card in Aurora<https://aurora.umanitoba.ca/banprod/twbkwbis.P_WWWLogin>. Please make sure to confirm your exam date, time, location, and format. Plan your arrival: Make sure you have a plan to get to campus early in case transport does not go as planned. Check out the classroom in which your exam is taking place in advance! 1. Attendance & identification: Students must display their UM student ID card or government issued photo identification (such as a passport or driver's license) and are required to sign an attendance form. 1. Arriving late: * Students who arrive more than 30 minutes after the start of the examination will not be permitted to write the examination. * Students who arrive less than 30 minutes late, will be permitted to write the examination, but must stop writing at the end of the scheduled exam time. * Students are not permitted to enter the examination room after at least one other student who is writing the same examination has left the examination room. * If you are late and not permitted to write an examination, you will be asked to complete the appropriate form by an invigilator and will then be advised to contact the Office of your Dean or Director no later than the next business day to discuss possible alternatives. 1. Illness/ emergency during your exam: If you become ill or receives word of a family emergency during the course of an examination and are unable to continue, you must report at once to the Head Invigilator, hand in the examination, and indicate either that you wish to submit your examination paper as: (1) completed; or (2) not completed and with the right to request a deferred examination. Medical or supporting documentation may be required for your deferral request. 1. Leaving the exam: * Students are not permitted to leave the examination room during the first thirty (30) minutes of an examination. * Students are not permitted to re-enter an examination room until all examination scripts have been collected. ________________________________ Unauthorized materials in exams Students are not permitted to access any unauthorized materials during an examination. This includes but is not limited to calculators, books, notes, pencil cases, or any electronic device capable of wireless communication and/or storing information. Join us on November 13 for a conversation on economic Reconcilitation] Dear Bisons, On November 13, UM is hosting a unique in-person event where big thinkers will explore ideas surrounding economic Reconciliation. What does it mean to build an economy that provides space for Indigenous prosperity and how can Manitoba, home to one of the largest populations of First Nations and Métis people, lead the way in shaping a more just and inclusive economic future? This special event is part of my podcast, "What's the Big Idea?<https://umanitoba.ca/community/whats-the-big-idea-podcast>", and for this episode, Dr. Angie Bruce, Vice-President (Indigenous), will take the host's chair. She will engage three bold alumni in a critical conversation about our economic future. The panelists are: Diane Roussin [BSW/96], a member of Skownan First Nation and an Anishinaabe leader who champions Indigenous-led solutions to large scale systems change for families and communities. She is the project director of Winnipeg Boldness, Canada's longest serving Indigenous Social Innovation Lab. Kathleen Bluesky [BA/99, MBA/15], a Cree and Anishinabe Ikwe from Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation and Minegoziibe Anishinabe First Nation. She is the owner of Seven Feathers Consulting and has led transformative initiatives, including Aski Pumenikewin (Land Code) and the NCN Othasowewin (Constitution), played a pivotal role in securing Manitoba's inaugural Social Impact Bond in 2019, and continues to shape Indigenous development as CEO of the Treaty One Development Corporation. Peter Pomart [MBA/18, PhD/25], is a Lecturer at the I.H. Asper School of Business and the former Director of Indigenous Business Education Partners. His PhD dissertation, "Indigenous Voices on Self-Determination, FPIC, and Canada's Evolving Duty to Consult and Accommodate Framework: An Empirical Study," presents an Indigenous-centred perspective on UNDRIP (United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples) and its implications for resource development in Canada. This conversation will explore what economic Reconciliation means and looks like to participants and their organizations, and what we must collectively do to achieve it. After the formal podcast conversation, there will be a Q&A with the audience.
