The Soil Fertility and Nutrient Management Lab in the Plant Science Department at Penn State has an opening for a PhD level graduate student in Agronomy starting in the 2020-21 academic year. The student will conduct research to test and refine a new nitrogen recommendation system that credits N supply from mineralization of cover crop residues and soil organic matter. The student will also contribute to the advancement of a process-based cropping system model by developing and testing algorithms controlling N mineralization and crop yield response to N stress. The student will be advised by Dr. Charlie White. Please see the attached announcement for more details and desired qualifications.
Dr. White will be at the Tri-Society meetings in San Antonio and can schedule a meeting with qualified applicants to discuss the position. If you would like to schedule a meeting, please email cmw29(a)psu.edu<mailto:cmw29@psu.edu> with a brief statement of interest and a CV or resume demonstrating your qualifications.

Subject: Tri-Agency Canada Graduate Scholarships - Master's (CGS-M) Information Sessions for Students
Good morning, Awards Contacts,
Happy Friday to you! :)
I am writing to you today to let you know of two information sessions for students that I am hosting regarding the Tri-Agency (SSHRC, NSERC, and CIHR) Canada Graduate Scholarships - Master's (CGS-M).
The competition for the CGS-M for funding for the 2020-2021 academic year is currently underway - and it has been advertised to all graduate students via our "Upcoming Awards" email that is sent out each Wednesday. Information on how to apply for the CGS-M, as well as the award requirements and deadlines, can be found on our Awards Database by clicking here.<http://webapps.cc.umanitoba.ca/gradawards/index.asp?WCI=SearchForm&WCE=brow…> Please note that in addition to other requirements noted at this link - only Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents of Canada are eligible to apply for the CGS-M.
While I will send out the details on these information sessions to all students in the next "Upcoming Awards" email - I am hoping you can also assist in getting the word out about these sessions by forwarding this information to your graduate students. Additionally, if you are able to send this information to any undergraduate students in your areas who might be considering pursuing a Master's degree program next year that would also be appreciated. Sign up is required to attend one of the sessions - one session will be held at the Fort Garry Campus, and the other session will be held at the Bannatyne Campus, details as follows:

Tri-Agency Canada Graduate Scholarships - Master's (CGS-M) Information Session (Bannatyne Campus) - Sign Up Required<https://manitobagrad.radiusbycampusmgmt.com/ssc/eform/C70C7RS70S5kx6700tBal…>
Wednesday, November 13th, 2019

Sign up here for the Bannatyne CGS-M Information Session<https://manitobagrad.radiusbycampusmgmt.com/ssc/eform/C70C7RS70S5kx6700tBal…>
Students who have questions about the CGS-M award application process, eligibility, and requirements are all encouraged to attend one of these sessions! Also note - the same information will be provided at both sessions so students are welcome to sign up for either session regardless of the location of their program/regardless of which Agency they will be applying to.
Thank you as always for your support of our students...take care and enjoy your weekend!
-Sara
