Hello grad students!
Summer has arrived in full force and so has our field work! Everybody is working hard and putting in long days, why not take the time to showcase your project? The annual Carman Field Day Tour is coming up on July 25, 2012 at the Ian N. Morrison Research Farm. This is a great opportunity for grad students to gain presentation experience, discuss their research and do some networking in a more relaxed environment. Every year we have a great turnout of U of M staff and students, industry representatives, MAFRI staff and local producers.
The field day will be run a bit differently this year. We will be having six stops around the farm on the tour and lab groups (i.e. organics, weeds, pathology, etc.) will be presenting their research together at a stop in order to demonstrate how their research projects in their sub-field may advance farming in the future (the theme is 'Advancing the Art of Farming Through Innovative Research'). A draft of the event poster is attached, it will be modified shortly to indicate some of the featured research. If you're interested in submitting a small paragraph on your research to the tour booklet and/or presenting on the tour, please talk to your advisor!
